These informal support group meetings are always free of charge and are led by a NAMI trained and certified leader. All groups are confidential—you can share as much or as little personal information as you wish. Please note- NAMI HC follows the Howard County Public School system. That is, if school is cancelled, then we are closed and all activities are cancelled. If evening school activities are cancelled, then all evening activities are cancelled.

SUPPORT GROUPS FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS OF ADULTS WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS
Lead by trained family members, this group for family members and friends who care about an adult with a mental illness meets at the following times:.
Second Tuesdays —
A group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, 7:30 – 9 p.m. in the Parlor of Harmony Hall Retirement Center, 6336 Cedar Lane, Columbia 21044
The next support group meets is June 11, 2019.
Directions: From Route 29, take Route 32 West to Exit 17, Cedar Lane. Stay to the right and go up a hill. Turn left at the light at the top of the hill. (Hickory Ridge Shopping Center will be on the right.) Pass Lorien Nursing Home, which is in the same complex of buildings. Harmony Hall is the second building on the right.
Third Fridays –
A group will meet on the third Friday of each month, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Celebration Church, use back door and look for signs, 6080 Foreland Garth, Columbia, MD 21045.

Directions: From Route 29, take Route 175 East. Turn left on Tamar Drive and Right on Foreland Garth. Turn right into the driveway PAST the church sign to the parking lot behind the church and enter through the double doors. Follow the signs once inside the church.
A SUPPORT GROUP FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN & TEENS WITH A MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE
If you are the parent or caregiver of a child (under age 18) with mental health issues, you are not alone! Come talk with other parents, grandparents, and caregivers experiencing similar challenges. Share your struggles, as well as successes and resources. Membership in NAMI is not required and there is no cost to attend. However, we are not able to provide child care at this time.
First Mondays —
The group meets the first Monday of each month, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 9325 Presbyterian Circle, Room 252, Columbia, MD 21045 .

Third Thursdays – Transition Age Youth Support Group for parents of ages 16 – 26.
This group meets the third Thursday of each month, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 9325 Presbyterian Circle, Room 252, Columbia, MD 21045.
The next support group meets is June 20, 2019.
Directions: From Route 29 take exit 21A to Rt. 108 East. Stay in the right lane as you exit as you will make the first right on to Presbyterian Circle. Follow the road to the end, turn left and park behind the church. Enter at the glass doors in the back of the building. Turn left and go to the second floor via the elevator or stairs.
SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH ANY MENTAL ILLNESS
NAMI Connection is a recovery support group program for people living with mental illness. The group provides a place that offers respect, understanding, encouragement and hope. The groups are lead by trained individuals who are in recovery themselves. They understand your daily challenges and can offer you encouragement and support. NAMI Connection is open to all adults with mental illness, regardless of diagnosis. Everyone is welcome. The groups are confidential—you can share as much or as little personal information as you wish.
*The NAMI Connection Support Group meets the 2nd and 4th Monday 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at NEW LOCATION – Owen Brown Interfaith Center, Room 150 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia, 21045.
There is no need to register—just come when you feel like you need someone to talk to.
SUNDAY SUPPERS (NEW LOCATION)
People have been gathering for our Sunday Suppers program since 1982. Sunday Suppers is a social gathering for adults living with mental illness. The event is monthly on Sundays begins at 3 pm at the North Laurel Community Center 9411 Whiskey Bottom Rd. Laurel, MD 20723. Meals are prepared by local churches and organizations.
